The centerpiece of the Frank Rizzo Estate Sale. Not Gold, Not Silver, Not Plaques with the Pope. EVERYBODY bidding wanted the Eyeglasses. Frank's Most Personal Item. Imagine what was Seen through these Glasses.
Uncle was a Philadelphia History Lover and he said to my Aunt before even going to the Auction, "I'm getting the glasses, I know that much!". He passed and, well, I'd rather another Philly History Lover and Collector acquire them.I know my Uncle himself paid several thousand for the glasses. I am offering them at 5000, but open to serious offers.
If your interested, buy them. In the Legendary words of Frank Rizzo, "Don't be a Crumb Bum!"
Will be carefully packed and Shipping is Free.
***I have recieved multiple messages regarding "proof" or "papers". My Uncle did not save or print the auction receipt (was sent to his phone at the time of the sale apparently). I do have other Rizzo items my Uncle bought also on that day, such as a Rare Hand Signed book from President Richard Nixon himself given as a Personal Gift to Rizzo. And another book that is about President Nixon and the Watergate tapes. Nixon mentioned Mayor Frank Rizzo multiple times when talking with Kissinger and Haldeman mostly. I believe Nixon also mentioned Rizzo when talking to Alexander Haig (a native of Bala Cynwyd).
The Book and Signed Letter was a gift to Mayor Rizzo from Sanford Fox. I will paste his short bio below.
"Sanford L. "Sandy" Fox - born 1919, died December 29, 1996. A native of West Virginia, Sanford Fox settled in the Washington, D.C. area in 1939. He entered into the Army’s Air Transport Command in 1940, serving with the Army Air Forces & Navy during WWII. After the war, he worked for what became the CIA for 7 years, and then transferred to the White House staff in 1952. Fox took a permanent position in 1959 as the Assistant Chief of the Social Entertainments Office. He eventually became the head of the office when his predecessor, Adrian B. Tolley, retired. In this capacity, Fox oversaw the planning of events throughout the Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford administrations. He retired in June 1975."
I understand the concern on authenticity, and apologize for not having any sort of coa. The other Rare Rizzo items is what is available. Having said that, you could also have the prescription of the glasses examined, and it will no doubt match whatever Frank Rizzo's was.
I had no intention towards selling the books, but discussed it with my Aunt. She is now retiring and downsizing and I would like to follow her wishes.
Initially the glasses were priced at 5000 or best offer. The price has been drastically reduced to 3500 AND BOTH SIGNED BOOKS ARE INCLUDED AS WELL!
If for any reason these Rizzo Personal Items go unsold, I promise any interested buyer this price is the absolute lowest being considered. And because the listing is for 30 days, these pieces WILL NOT be relisted anytime soon.
