Mercedes Benz CLS550 Homemade Cold Air Intake System M278 Bi Turbo W218.
I CREATED THIS POSTING TO SHOW HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR OLD STOCK MATERIAL COLD AIR INTAKES THAT TEAR APART OR BECOME UNRAVELED TO A NEW AND IMPROVED METHOD THAT WILL LAST FOREVER, BETTER PERFORMANCE AND VERY ECONOMICAL ALONG WITH THE LINKS TO GET ALL THE MATERIALS FOR JUST UNDER DOLLARS AND SAVE HUNDREDS!!!
THIS MAY WORK ON OTHER MERCEDES CLS550 CLS63 TWIN TURBO MOTORS.
Here is how I did everything:
1. SAVE your existing front inlet scoops!! Remove the existing material tube by unraveling it from the scoop entirely, and clean them up.
2. Once you have the new inlet pipes you will need to cut them on the bend side of the tube Not the straight side!
3. You will cut at an angle measuring 2 inches on the outside of the bend and 1/4 inch on the inside of the bend, Use a sharpie to make your cutting line
4. File all rough edges and clean inside of tubes after cutting.
5. Block side hole with a simple cap, plug, or a piece of good tape
6. You are now ready to install everything, Total time less than 2 hours.
