Dr. Pretorius & Frankenstein Bust Set -Rare Resin Model Bride Classic Horror
Hey classic horror film fans, here's Dr. Frankenstein and Dr. Pretorius, the sinister scientists obsessed with creating "The Bride of Frankenstein," a rare set of resin portrait busts that celebrate actors Colin Clive and Ernest Thesiger in their signature roles.
The good doctors were produced 17 years ago as limited edition resin models by Jayco Hobbies (now Resin Realities). Both doctors were designed and sculpted for Jayco by Mark Van Tine, who delivers some of his finest portrait work ever on classic characters.
Van Tine's talent shines especially bright on these maniacal scientists with fine proportions, spot-on likenesses, and a deft handling of hair and costume. Both are handsomely presented upon creepy thematic bases that accent the mad men without overpowering the portraits. Jayco’s busts are both slickly cast in solid resin, and each is ¼ scale: Frankenstein standing 8 ½” tall x 4 ½” wide, and Pretorius 7 ¾” tall x 4” wide. Please know that both doctors have been glued neatly to the display bases by their original owner, and both have been cleanly sprayed with gray primer. (Dr. Pretorius’ left arm remains unattached.)
Highly limited when first released, Jayco's beautiful Bride busts sold out quickly, being gobbled-up fast by hungry collectors who appreciated their powerful presence. Today, they are rarely found in any condition. Here's both elusive doctors, sold as a set, waiting to drink once more "To a new world of gods and monsters!"
